If you’ve been following Sand + Salt Kids for a while, you’ve probably noticed something.
I don’t put random words on our clothes.
Every graphic.
Every phrase.
Every collection.
It all starts with one question.
“How do I want a child to feel when they put this on?”
As a mum of two boys, I’ve watched how much words matter.
Kids listen.
They absorb.
They remember.
The things we say to them become the things they eventually say to themselves.
That’s why I’ve never wanted our clothes to just look cool.
I wanted them to mean something too.
More Than A Graphic
When I designed tees like Life Is Rad, Epic Vibes, Nothing But Rad Days and Good Vibes, I wasn’t trying to create catchy slogans.
I was thinking about childhood.
I was thinking about confidence.
I was thinking about the little reminders I hope kids carry with them long after they’ve taken the tee off.
Not because a T-shirt changes who they are.
But because positive messages can become part of the environment we create around them.
Sometimes that’s a conversation.
Sometimes it’s encouragement from a parent.
Sometimes it’s simply seeing uplifting words every time they get dressed.
Childhood Isn’t Perfect
Kids have bad days.
They fall over.
They argue with friends.
They feel left out.
They lose confidence.
That’s all part of growing up.
I can’t protect every child from those moments.
But if I can create clothes that remind them they’re awesome, kind, capable and enough…
Then that’s something I’m proud to be part of.
Clothes They’ll Reach For First
Of course I want our clothes to last.
I want the quality to be there.
I want them to survive adventures, skateparks, beach days and muddy backyards.
But more than anything…
I hope they’re the clothes kids choose because they love how they make them feel.
Because that’s always been the goal.
Not just making kids’ clothing.
Creating pieces that become part of a happy childhood.
That’s why positive words will always have a place at Sand + Salt Kids.
Not because they’re trendy Because I believe kids deserve to grow up surrounded by good ones.
